The Director of the Office for Tribal Member Support and Information serves as the senior leader responsible for establishing, overseeing, and operating an office that assists Tribal Members in navigating Tribal Government services and providing guidance and information about tribal community resources. The individual provides regular monthly reports to the Tribal Council, assists Tribal Members in identifying and applying for grant opportunities, and manages requests for records and information, coordinating with the Tribal Secretary’s Office when needed. This role ensures accessibility, impartiality, neutrality, and confidentiality throughout the inquiry and conflict-resolution processes. As a neutral advocate for fair process, the Director strengthens trust between Tribal Members and the Tribal Government by providing guidance, managing informal investigations, facilitating resolutions, and recommending systemic improvements.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Tribal Governance, Social Services, Conflict Resolution, or related field is required. Master’s degree is strongly preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in ombuds services, conflict resolution, investigation, mediation, or related field is required. Certification as an Organizational Ombuds Practitioner (CO-OP) is highly desired. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License may be required. Knowledge or familiarity with Tribal government structure, Tribal Law, ordinances. Demonstrated ability to lead confidential, impartial and neutral investigations and facilitate resolution between diverse parties. Exceptional communication, diplomacy, and relationship-building skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing various technological devices and software packages, including the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to travel across all reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays is a requirement of this position.
